  1. What's great about this passage is that he is getting rid of the Ancient stone work. Un-building the past.

  2. A complete wilderness does not include stone walls, unless those stone walls themselves are considered part of the wilderness -- that is, made by creatures they considered wilderness savages. Excellent little tidbit there. Not quite the smoking gun, but certainly another piece to the giant puzzle.
